I visit Cambodia twice a year and I want to give you a glimpse into the reason why.

When my team and I were in the village of Svay Pak, working with our partner ministry, we were told about a young girl, who at the age of 15, was sold for her virginity; by her mother. When she was returned home, her mother then proceeded to take her to a pimp who kept her in captivity.

She was held there for 22 days.

Heads Up

I lean in through the window of the taxi, take a deep breath to check for alcohol, drugs, or even worse; the dreaded durian fruit. My nose says all is well and I mumble, "Chatuchak Weekend Market." He nods and I climb in the back. I have a few hours before my team arrives and plan on using that time to say a quick hello to my friends who have stores at the market.
